I would be inclined to go for one with more mileage. At the sort of mileage you are looking at the van will have been sitting around most of its life which is not good for a van causes far more problems than one thats done a more normal mileage.

I totally agree. Our Esterel a 2006 purchased in 2013/14 had just under 10k )(owned from new and now s 90 year old). Loads of silly problems requiring twice on low loaders in Europe

That was still after a £2k full service by Mercedes

A difficult one to be honest, it could be argued that a vehicle used lightly but on a regular basis generating lower mileage would be a better buy than one that had toured extensively for 6 months of the year thereby generating high miles, but had then spent the other 6 months parked not turning a wheel.
Unless you know how the vehicle has been used (highly unlikely) then all you have is the condition in which it is presented.
Thanks for your views, if i purchase a dud low mileage one, i'll just keep quiet about it.

Don't think there's any comparison there but I guess it's the op's call

Aye but the 747 is a 7 berth tag axle full length double floored van with huge garage etc.
I'd imagine the op wants one for those reasons.

Thanks for the replies, i have looked at a couple advertised on the net, both quite tired. Perhaps i'm being too picky, i do appreciate i'm looking at relatively old vehicles but there must be some well looked after ones around. I am quite prepared to pay a good price for a clean/tidy example.
Not interested in an A class, thanks JC.
