I am having trouble understanding the towing capability of the burstener 747 year 2004 the plate show these figures

Line 1 5000kg
Line 2 5500kg
1- 2000kg
2- 1500kg
3- 1500kg

Does this make sense to anyone, I have a smart car on smart trailer weighing approx 1150kgm

Assume it is had twin rear axles.
1 is maximum gross weight
2 is maximum train weight, i.e. motorhome plus trailer
3 is maximum load on front axle
4 & 5 are maximum weights on each of the rear axles.

Blimey this only gives 500kgm towing capability if I keep the payload down so that I dont go over the maximum weight of 5500 can I tow the smart car

Yes it's a tag axle

Agree with Peter looks like you can only tow 500kg.

Tag axle motorhomes have a higher GVW but at the expense of towing capability.Very few if any tag axles are suitable for towing anything other than a small baggage trailer.

No it's the gross weights that count not actual.

A common misconception - see para 7.3 in the following link:

MMM recently did an article on all things weight related and they went to great lengths to define GVW, GTW and many others and provided descriptions of each. Interestingly, they did not describe a towing limit as GTW - GVW.

Yes you can but only if you can get your actual MH weight down to 4,350Kg.

Yep, just been looking it up and found out I was wrong.

Uprated not updated

Think that you will find that plating the van upwards will not change the Train weight, in fact it has the opposite effect as you will be able to tow even less.

See posts #8 and #9.

We added air to the rear of our tag axle and are now 5750 GVM and 6700 GTM so yes it is possible to do.
