I thought that it was allowed and that you paid the harbour master £8 a night to camp there?
Unfortunately it is no longer an option.
The harbour is now leased by the Council to a private company, who do not have license to charge for overnight parking, for the past few months as there were no charges the area became populated by some long term folk.
There were instances of inappropriate disposal of black waste, excessive dog waste and the 'Far Slipway' was getting blocked. H&S issues regarding spacing were also cited along with access restriction for emergency services.
In general I think the local town council became fed up with the numbers of motorhomes parked up denying access to locals who enjoyed parking their cars on the front, this has been made worse by the construction of the new RNLI station which has further restricted the available space.
With the loss of the income from the £8 charge and the subsequent 'long termers' as I said " It was only a matter of time"

This isn't a new story is it?
It was announced earlier this year that the port was going to be extensively redeveloped.
The proposed development of the harbour area including the marina have been planned for a while
https://www.walesonline.co.uk/busin...ty/burry-port-harbour-leisure-retail-11851161
In the past few years the council have failed miserably to maintain the marina to keep it dredged for boat access with the subsequent loss of the number of boats moored and the associated revenue.
With the lease of the marina to a private concern it is hoped that the decline will now be reversed, along with new lifeboat station and the conversion of the existing one to harbour facilities, it should happen.
However there does not appear any progress regarding the sale of the land surrounding the harbour for the proposed major development, which includes houses, shops, cafés. It is this development that will be on the land where the motorhomes once parked.

It won't be long before the freeloaders will have to book into a camping site.
