I'm a noob and and these are probably silly questions, but I have just purchased a Bullfinch external shower point to fit to my Chausson Flash 04 (2012).

The hose connections on the shower point are 15mm I/D. The water existing hoses are c.15mm O/D.

1. Are the JG speedfit connectors sizes quoted as I/D or O/D?
2. Does the O/D of existing pipes @15mm would equate to 12mm I/D?
3. Do the speedfit connections work with the reinforced type hoses?

Any advice is welcomed. Thanks

I fitted the external shower attachment to a chausson 620..I'm pretty sure the internal pipes both hot and cold were 12mm od semi rigid plastic.. The shower was 15 mm male spiggots as you said and required the correct push fit adapters to go from 15mm to the 12 mm pipe in the van..

Hi Andy

Thanks for the message and pics. I would normally pop down to my nearest dealer to get the parts, but have to buy online so want to make sure I get the right parts. I've just measured the existing hoses and they appear to be 14.6mm O/D. Do you know if this means they are 12mm I/D? If so I will need 2 x 15mm to 12mm reducers and 2 x 12mm t-connectors? Thanks again for the help.

Chris

I've had a quick check Chris and the pipework in my van is definitel 12 mm semi rigid plastic pipe with an outside diam of 12mm ..the connectors I bought were to take me from 15mm pipe to 12mm pipe..

Sorry I being dim witted. The shower requires a 15mm I/D connector and your pipework is a 12mm O/D, which I'm guessing makes this a 10mm I/D? so did you need 15mm to 10mm reducer? I'm just a little confused whether the male part of the fittings are quoted as I/D and the female the O/D. If so I think I just 15mm connectors....Thanks again.

Ive never seen this item, but I think you have a 15mm spigot coming out of the unit. So a 15mm push fitting will push onto this. Normally you would use a 15mm elbow or 15mm straight connection depending on to where the pipes come from. But in most cases in MoHo’s you will need the elbow or straight to be conversion fitting so would be a 15mm to 12mm elbow or straight.

Straight

or use a conversion in to a 15mm elbow

Andy above has put the above conversion (15mm to 12mm) direct onto the spigot out of the valve, and then put 12mm equal elbow onto that. You can do it various ways but shower valve is 15mm, and pipework is 12mm so needs a pair of conversions. All the pipework is O/D ????

Thanks to both Andy's their advice. My hoses are definitely 15mm O/D so I only needed 15mm x 15mm fixings which made the job much easier.

I got the gear needed at screwfix (same day click and collect) and the prices seems competitive. I settled on 2 of these so I can isolate the shower point:

As the run was short I bought one pack of two hoses:

and of pack of these which are really useful to ensure a solid connection of the hose ends. They are a bit tight so rubbed a little washing up liquid and a tap with a hammer knocked them in nicely:

All the internal connection went together easily and quicker than I anticipated so just need to bite the bullet and drill the hole to fit the shower point.
