Had an email with a code offering items at their NEC prices (may still be worth checking elsewhere online too) for Bulldog Security & will copy below but more interesting is their tracker system with phone app for £250 total for 2 years & £25 for third year. Some insurance companies offering good discounts if this is fitted. See http://www.bulldogsecure.com/view/bulldog-pp10-pro-active-tracker/1379
Here is the email I received but no shop on their website do probably have to call them for prices/ordering:
"Complementing the TripBuddy was a display of Bulldog's High Security Products, offering discounted prices and free delivery on all orders proved to be a real crowd pleaser throughout the week, with those new to camping and those who are not. With a variety of Hitch Locks and Wheel Clamps to suit every style of caravan/ motorhome Bulldog catered for all.
The PP10 tracking device also attracted a crowd. As unlike most trackers the PP10 comes with no annual or monthly fees, free software updates such as port alerts, tracker history, mileage & speed alerts and with it's small, light design and easy installation visitors were very impressed. The feedback received has been fantastic! So much so we would like to extend our show prices andFree deliverya further 5 days, all you have to do is quote 'NEC14' with all orders
(Offer closes Friday 24th at 4pm)"

Just rang Bulldog about tracker & NEC deal price is £220 total delivered if ordered by the end of Friday(y):D Call them direct on 01952 728171 to order. That gives 2 years cover & third & possibly further years would be £25 per year.
Presumably have similar discounts on their other security items until then too. We have their security posts & Centaur CA2000C wheel clamp & all are excellent products. Still might be cheaper elsewhere online so might be worth calling them after you have found the best price :)

Funsters may want to read this before buying a GPS based tracking system.
Link Removed

Also bear in mind modern fiat based vans have already got "TRACKER" built in.

This has been said before... But the best tracking devices are those that can use gps, rf (radio) and GSM (mobile). But that article above says it all really.. Physical security and key security is the best way to stop vehicles going. The security posts that wombles mentions above are an example of ideal physical security.

We have a Gps tracker and separate rf/ GSM tracker on ours.
I can recommend you get one with a very long battery life, our van is back at Autosleeper for repairs, the vans batteries have been disconnected and the GPS tracker battery has already died. The other one is fine, having a battery that will last a year or so, and I can see where the van is all the time, even when it's in the workshop.

Sorry Dave, you are right, I should have said all Swift Group vehicles have the "Tracker" as standard.

RF in tracking systems is pointless unless there are sufficient vehicles equipped with locating devices.

There isn't ! A handful in the Country and you have to be within about 2 miles radius. This is why it failed and Trackstar took ascendency

This is why the largest selling stolen vehicle recovery system in the UK, standard is BMW, Land Rover, Range Rover, Jaguar and nearly 20 other manufacturers is GPS and GSM only

Tracker "used" to be RF and tried to fight the onslaught of GPS/GSM and capitulated and introduced GSM

Not sure how accurate these figures are, according to Tracker, their VHF detection systems are used in by UK police forces and fitted in more than 1,700 police patrol cars and 30 helicopters as well as detection systems at major UK sea ports.
They also use GSM and GPS but both these signals can be jammed.
Whilst I agree VHF is for short range tracking, its still another very effective way to locate a stolen vehicle and one that I have used dozens of times to good effect ( back in the day when I was part of the establishment!)

Your stats may well be right Eddie but if you read the link to the CCC advert they can be jammed.
They can aslo be detected by the criminals before they steal the vehicle.

I know that any deterrent is better than none but i would want to know if they are any good before i laid out £250

You can get gps trackers on the net for as little as £30....do they do the same job?

1700 cars with a maximum range of 2 miles, 3400 miles detection coverage for the whole of the UK and nothing in Europe

That ham that are the experts in this as the test everything at MIRRC. ( the Motor Industry RepInand Research Centre) only require GSM and GPS for the highest tracking category Cat Five

yes signals can be blocked but even owning a jammer will see you arrested and charged and the reality is, according to Thatcham (who are owned by the ABI Association of British Insurers) that hammers do not present a credible concern.

A VHF signal is just as likely to to jammed by the way if you were to be concerned.

Not all tracking systems use GSM or RF to communicate either, we have systems that can track boats for example in the middle of the Atlantic where there is simply no VHF or GSM

Tracker started out with RV and technology has moved on but they leave the RF bolted on, say the Betamax of tracking, but they're added digital recording as well

All trackers fundamentally do the same job. It is a GPS device grafted onto a telephone at its lowest description.

It knows where it is and you can contact it and it will tell you where it is from there on in it is the infrastructure and the backup that you're paying for.

Trakstar are owned by traffic master and operate from a £10 million purpose-built control centre, they also own Eurocard and euro watch and can track the assets anywhere in Europe. Most other tracking companies have to pay your watch for the service as they don't have the ability to cross border monitor themselves.

That said the bulldog deal so long as it is a monitered system, and insurance approved does seem good value.

Interesting post and points made

This product has been designed and manufactured in Britain for SmarTrack and has acheived e-mark and Thatcham TQA208 status.

The SmarTrack Protector Pro is an ideal tracking system for Cars, Vans, Motorhomes, HGV, Classic and high value vehicles. The tracker has internal aerials for higher security and a IP56 ABS casing for extra protection.
