I cant be the only one who finds removing dead bugs of the engine cover difficult. The front cover is made of plastic on most A class vehicles, and the bugs stick like %$^& to a blanket.
Any good tips on removing them, and keeping the cover clean ? I have tried most of the usual stuff on sale and its pretty useless, help please !

I haven't done it myself, but

I gave read somewhere that if you put cling film on your overhead cab when travelling a fair distance and removing it when you have arrived saves a lot of work.

Should work on the bonnet as well:)

many many years! since I was a kid
removing, use a spray of traffic film remover then cover with a damp cloth for 10 minutes before wiping off
there is no prevention but one way to minimise the work is to cover the bonnet with vinyl, which is easier to keep clean

Rehydrating the fly specks can help - before your van wash lay some wet kitchen towel over the bonnet for an hour or so (don't let it dry out!). This should make removal easier during the soapy wash.

:smiley:I read somewhere that baby wipes do a good job. Haven't tested it 'cos it's not my job to clean the van.

When you do get them off try Autoglym polish then their extra protection stuff. Next time the little bugs come off quite easily especially with warm water and a micro fibre cloth.

That's my solution too but I have to admit it struggled with the 'cleggs/monster midges' from NW Scotland.

If you get out of bed early, on a damp morning with plenty of dew, you can just wipe them orf! Soooooo I would stay in bed and when you get up, wet the van, go and have breakfast, then wipe the little blighters off.:)
