Anyone experiencing problems with their BT Email account. Second night in a row using webmail (Thunderbird) tells me "Sending of password did not succeed. Mail server mail.btinternet.com responded: (#MBR1213) Please verify your account by going to https://login.yahoo.com"

Trying to access direct through BT website using Firefox, Safari or IE I get this page :-

Annoying this is only affecting my computer and Ipad my iphone brings in emails? This morning all worked well computer and Ipad brought in emails as though there had not been a problem, then late afternoon I couldnt download emails again and still cannot except using my phone????

Damned frustrating, emailed the bt helpline last night explaining problems and received a reply during the night "
Thanks for getting in touch. We just want you to know that we've got your e-mail. Your reference number is **************** We are experiencing high volume at the moment and will be in contact as soon as possible (from an 0800 number). Heard nothing since :-(

Hi Chaser, on the Northern Frontier mate (Hadrians Wall)

Just tried Chrome with same result so guessing BT must be dicking around with their website somehow.

We had the problem last Sunday and Monday then it was okay. According to an email from them they have now fixed it and are giving us a free months internet in August.
Sounds like it's not totally fixed.

I used to get my Bt mails through yahoo

I have now entered the account on my iPhone and pad

Don't get a problem now with e mails
But then I only use it for junk type stuff

And use aol for my main account makes joining and leaving
ISPs a lot easier

I have also been transferred to Bts own emails

I Think BT are a waste of space all i got from them was 17 years of grief, blaming me for the problems that always turned out to be theirs .The best thing i ever did was get rid of them. I tried giffgaff , It has being spot on and less than half the price ,excellent service and reception.

This occasionally happens to me using BT email through Thunderbird. I started to follow the recommended procedure but it involved changing passwords etc and was a bit of a faff. Eventually I just ignored it and it sorted itself out - I could still get at the email account if I needed to by going through the BT main site.

BT servers are having problems at the moment. I run a hosting company and currently I am dealing with BT email issues. I currently have over 100 emails sat in my servers mail queue with the following error.

Sending to xxxxxxx@btinternet.com
refused to talk to me: 421 rgin08.bt.ext.cpcloud.co.uk Service not available - too busy

This got me concerned. 421 means temporary failure. But "Refused to talk to me" shouts out permanent and my fault. The bit in bold actually appears to be the real message they want me to have

I had to look up cpcloud.. BT are currently migrating from using yahoo for their mail services to Critical Path (CP) who have just been bought out by OpenWave Messaging who are managing the migration process.

I would expect some disruption due to the migration. Believe me when I say a migration can be done with zero down time for email but it is a massive job (I have done it 100's of times with millions of mailboxes).

However with BT moving its outsourced email to another outsourced email provider using another company to manage that migration I can imagine issues being thrown up quite regularly (4 primary companies involved)

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-28294640

So to summarise. http://bt.com uses http://yahoo.co.uk for their email service, however they are paying http://openwave.com to migrate the http://yahoo.co.uk service to http://cpcloud.co.uk but http://cpcloud.co.uk/ has just been bought out by http://openwave.com :rofl::rofl:

They should have employed you and Jim given how smoothly you handled the migration here. The domain www.funstermail.co.uk is free! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
