Hi fellow campers

The key to the side door and lickers has snapped. It’s a Bessacarr where would we gat a replacement key please?

Jane😥

if you have both bits try a good locksmith our local shoe repairer’s has a lot of blanks for motorhomes and caravans and cut some for me when ours cracked

if you can’t find anyone you could send it to me and I would take it to him

My Hab door and Lickers :roflmto: key wore out.

It had a number on it FW***

FW keys were listed on the Internet but not the number I required.

All the locksmiths I contacted wanted a good quality photo of the key and they would computer generated copy.

When I pointed out that the key was suffering fom wear and tear, and I had no confidence in a copy made from a worn out key, they were all certain that it would be fine, please send £X and they would get to work. No - LOL.

In the end a dealer, for an Adria, said that they could source an original, which they did for £10 + P & P.

If it's a Zadi lock barrel, the key is normally engraved with the key number.
I got a replacement but just by typing the key number into the eBay search box.

It depends how they do it. A straight copy, I agree, might be a problem. But the key bumps are originally at a precise height set in small steps, so I'm sure a computer program could see the picture and work out what the exact step was, assuming it's not worn so much that it won't work. Then a new key would restore the bump heights to the original profile.

The reason for needing a replacement was that although it would lock and unlock the Hab Door, it would unlock licker doors it would not lock them after.

They did claim the the dreaded algorithm would calculate what additional material was required, they were sure of this.

However, not sure enough to offer a pay on success deal.

Any decent locksmith (As opposed to the local keycutter/shoe repair booth) should be able to make a replacement as long as you have both bits.

They may need to order in the blank specially though.
