Brittany Ferries, Normal service (sort of) from Monday

Well I was really disappointed with the Cap Finistere this time, wooden cutlery with breakfast (which broke!) but 'proper' cutlery on the only restaurant (top deck) open - which you helped yourself to:doh:

Given that Brittany had months to prepare for tourists returning it was - 'do as little as possible'.

The fact that you were asked to stay as much as possible in your cabin but had to pay for WIFI showed how little they had thought of passengers or value for money.

Wrote to Brittany that I will not be renewing my membership.

I will put up with the roundabouts and speed restrictions and travel through France in future.

Just came back Roscoff to Plymouth on the Pont Aven. Never seen it so empty. We did some shopping but eat our own sandwiches in our Commodore cabin. All very sterile but with the numbers they cannot be making money so to moan about lack of this or that, and demand freebies is being a tad unrealistic. The biggest fear is someone suing them after catching cv or worse dieing. Personally I wish things were like they were but they ain't, we have to live with this and companies have to find a way to make a profit with assets designed for a different business plan.

I paid over £500 for a oneway with my 8m motorhome, it was pretty full.

I've been a member for a number of years and I thought they could have done a lot better.

As I said they had months to plan a return to 'normal'.

I run my own business and was prepared to re-open - Brittany didn't bother.

Well you've made your choice and I am sure they will be sorry to lose you. However the way CV has struck businesses has not been equal by a long shot, you have those that have been totally decimated, like those in the hospitality and travel industry and those that have ticked over in equilibrium and those that have simply made a killing. I have been out to my favourite Indian tonight and was struck by his ingenuity, he has lost 40 covers in the reorganisation, ticked over with takeaways when he was able and told me tonight he simply has to work with it. I have no knowledge of your business but typically the owner manager is always going to win hands down with the ability to manoeuvrer at speed, think outside the box and in control, a large company with multiple outlets like BF must be a management nightmare with this pandemic.
Personally I would give it a year and see where the chips have fallen, after all where is the alternative boat you are going on?

Brittany continued running freight only services so were well used to hosting drivers.

I have always supported ferries to Spain as against driving through France - but not now - DFDS Newhaven - Dieppe next time.

I left Spain on the Cap Finistere in March at reasonable cost and service, the return a few weeks ago was simply expensive and won't be repeated

Booked a single Bilboa- Portsmouth October 2021. £337 with a Finistere Club cabin, 6.4m van. Very happy with that price, , though I did have a discount code.
