Compare, if you will;

Bilbao - Rosslare Single, 16th Jan (midweek) £346 (exchange rate as of now ish)
Santander- Pt'mouth Single, 18th Jan (midweek) £431

Same occupancy, same van.

I would add that the prices for both trips are base prices. ie They are not available at a lower price.

Is someone taking someone for a ride to speak?

It’s called supply and demand……….you pays ya money, you takes ya choice😉

I think Brittany Ferries are trying to pay for their new (poor) ferries asap.

Instead of going Poole-Cherbourg for £300 one way recently, we went Newhaven-Dieppe for £122. Same crossing time, same age of ship etc. Would have preferred Poole as our son lives there (but I am a Yorkshireman).

Having said that we are going via Santander after Christmas as we normally prefer to tour, but it would be a dash through France at that time of the year. Just wish it was the Pont Aven rather than one of the new ships.

The difference may be partly explained by port charges. I suspect it costs a lot more to moor in Portsmouth than Rosslare.

Edit: I found a PDF you can download of Portsmouth charges. They charge in approximate figures £1000 for the ship, £5 per passenger and £20 for each car, £27 for a caravan. MH not mentioned but probably given the caravan rate. It is possible BF have negotiated special rates but then again perhaps not.
