We have been in Spain for 6 weeks now and only just noticed I have had a much better outlook on life and generally a better feel good factor.
But my wife likes to watch the news and the last 2 nights she has had the news on and blow me, I feel depressed in just listening to this shite from the UK.
It may not take much to make me move from England up into the mountains with no TV reception and live a happy life

Steve, when we were in Beni just pre Covid, we were enjoying the packed bars and restaurants, no mention of Covid, and only heard about the virus when we watched the UK news in the van - we thought the UK we’re having it really bad, and Spain had escaped it!

We stopped overnight on the way back to Santander, very near the epicentre of the outbreak - still no local concern.

We only learned how bad it was when we got on the Santander ferry!

I agree that too much news is bad for you though.

But knowing how the media works gives you the prism to see through the negativity. The media is a very poor infuencer unless you want it to be that is.

We’ve recently had 3 months in Spain and came home to high prices, poor selection of good quality basic foods, plus cold weather, yes we watch UK TV some evenings and the news was depressing and we cursed Brexit which forced us to return to the UK

I’ve just seen an advert telling people to turn down the heating and turn off a light well ***** me I wonder if the officials at cop 2—-7 put an extra jumper on or used a candle

For very many years I've woken up listening to the 'Today' prog on R4 for an hour but since about the onset of Covid I've given that up as it took a real effort to get up and into the violent, corrupt, selfish and depressing world. I've often said that if it wasn't for the harsh weather I'd sell up and move to a remote croft in the Orkneys.

I’ve given up reading newspapers because of the way they make a crisis out of a molehill and that they specifically avoid good news.

I’d long given up watching the BBC news (have you seen how much they pay a newsreader, sorry Autocue reader!) because of its woke and Left wing bias.

I’ve led a much happier if slightly more sheltered life since.

And the bonus is, it’s great.
