We joined Brit Stops when visiting the show at the weekend but after reading through the book there are a lot of stops that say small narrow roads or sharp turn into the stop steep incline on approach.

Just wondered what you have found when visiting any of the stops are a lot of them tight to get into or are the organisers just being over cautious

My mh is 7.8 mts long so am I going to struggle at a lot of places or not

Cheers LB

We're 7.3 metres, and never had an issue. Mind you, we stop at a lot of pubs, and the beer gets delivered on a lorry! If they can do it, so can I, that's my logic :D

We are 8.73m and as yet not had any problems.

Use Google maps and StreetView before you go anywhere, Google is a powerful tool where you can see where your going before you get there.

We stayed at #423 (from 2016 book) on Saturday night for our 3rd time before going to the NEC show, before we arrived we went into Leamington Spa and took the kids bowling, by using Google I was able to see if the car parks had height barriers or restrictions before we arrived thus not looking like a muppet causing a Saturday afternoon road block !!!!! The bowling centre car park isnt that big but I was able to get in and had to park in disabled bay with permission of the manager.

Most stops in Britstops are pubs, therefore I tend to assume that a drinks & food delivery vehicle is normally a 7.5t ridged goods vehicle, if they can deliver the drinks you can normally assume that a MH can get in also.

The numbers are different every year, as places leave the scheme and new ones join.
It was our first year in 16, and have used approx 6 stops so far, found them all very welcoming, and at 7.49 metres, also have not had any problems with access etc.

We have used a few Brit Stops and never had a problem of access.

We are 7.2 metres long + bike rack and/or HydraTrail, dependent on circumstances.

Similar to others, we have been member for couple of years and never had a problem in our 8.3m van. I always take the view that if the dray can get in so can I and only 'problem' we have ever had is not been able to get into the carpark because the pub is so busy...had to wait until nearer closing time to move the van off the road and park-up for the night.

I had one close call in Gloucestershire as it was night time and I turned 45deg to get through an arch when I should have gone further forward then turned 90deg! (y). As the landlord said "the dray gets through OK" and I was more circumspect leaving the next morning.

What does concern me is places which say "narrow lanes". I look on Google StreetView and agree that some lanes are narrow. Usually I work on the principle that narrow lanes have few vehicles, but I then dread having to reverse to a passing place, especially between stone-walled houses when passing places are few-and-far between. When in doubt, I give them a miss (eg BS312 2017)

I think it comes down to how confident a driver you are ours is 8.5 mtr but I'm ex class one but appreciate other people not so we motorhome wherever be it busy motorways (just to get from A to B ) but best out of the way places which incur narrow roads and when theirs a view or a pub at the end of it what more do you want we are members of Britstops and found some great pubs and appreciate he advises us , if we couldn't get to the destination don't think it would be in the book

I used to find that everyone got out of my way along narrow roads, presumably because I was visibly large. Best to avoid commercial vehicles but they seem happy to demonstrate their driving skills and accept the tricky bits as part of their daily challenge. Probably the worst event would be to meet another m/h!

Never had a problem, even with the advisory locations. Think it's there for the peace of mind of the venue owners and as a means of informing us for when we arrive late/dark/drunk etc:)

Spent 2 hrs last night on google maps looking up various stops and 99% seem fine with no problems, as stated lorries can get in BUT I used be be a class 1 driver and I also worked for Marstons on the drays and although you can get in ok I never bothered about hedges rubbing down the side of my trailer like I would my M/H :D
Must say that some look very nice with great views we are looking forward to using Brit Stops
