Thinking of heading to Brighton just for the day on Sunday. Does anyone know if a good place to park, within easy walking distance of the seafront (have a 4 year old!)? Thanks.

You can park at the marina car park, or possibly there will be room to park on the seafront nearby. There are also a few parking spaces on the lane that goes to the caravan club site.

Brighton is a nightmare. We walked miles before which is of no use to you. The town is pay everywhere. Lewes for us now and motorbike in. I know that doesn't help you but will be interested in anything that comes up as well

It's mainly multi stories ot underground parking near the front/ centre unfortunately. Depending on the size of your van there is paid parking along some of the seafront including Marina drive but I would think you would have to get there very early to secure a spot or get lucky.

Someone else may know of some secret spots.

I would be inclined to give Brighton a miss and drive along the coast road to Seaford.

We went last September. Stopped at the CC site. Walked along the front and enjoyed it. Nice bars and sites.

Come to Eastbourne. Parking is free on the seafront at the Beachy Head end.

Madeira Drive would be best if you have a motorhome. Not cheap to park, £3 p/h, though gets cheaper, £1 p/h, half a mile east of the pier, by Peter Pan's Playground.

Stay on the seafront and head towards Hove.

You can park on the seafront with quite reasonable rates for the day, but no overnighting I'm afraid.

It's a nice walk along the seafront up to the pier

Parked overnight there, walk back past the big white hotel (can't remember the name) and grabbed fish and chips to sit on the seafront and eat.

Eastbourne is full of big white hotels but I think the one you mentioned would be the Grand, it is pretty grand too.

Some surfers use a grassed area in front of Rottingdeane School . From the CC site turn left head up the hill towards The A259. It is on the right before the junction. Bus runs along this road also .

Does Brighton have park and ride?

It does but iit is in a the Withdean Sports Centre and is a normal bus route that stops every 100 yds, takes 45mins and costs about £5.50 each.

Rip off - like everything in Brighton - but great vibrant town.

There is motorhome parking on the sea front behind the King Alfred centre in Hove, about a 20 minute walk from Brighton centre. I believe you can overnight there, but have not tried it ourselves.

There is a free car park behind Saltdean Lido, might be worth checking out on Google Maps We often bike along the Undercliff past the marina and into Brighton.

We usually park on the seafront at hove lawns and it' was £10 to park all day earlier this year.
You can park on Madeira Drive and it's £15 at the closest area to town,but off you're prepared to walk a bit further there is a section at £7.
You can park at the marina free in a car but if you are in a MHome you can park in Asda car park for 3hours there' usually plenty of space.
A lot of the parking is free for blue badge holders

Give Brighton the elbow and come to sunny Southend on sea.... Adventure Island on the seafront for your four year old and loads of parking on seafront.....
