So,

If a UK National retires to Spain. Gets Spanish residency.

If they return to the UK for a holiday, how long will they be able to stay ?

I know you cant stay out of Spain too long as you will lose residency!

You can stay in the Uk as long as you want up to 180 days at the moment.
You don't lose spanish residency unless you are out for some years consecutively. i.e. if you popped back fro the weekend clock starts again. It will change after year end but even then I think it will still be 2 years.
Also at present if youare detained unexpectedly in the UK,or any other eu state, it comes under exceptional circumstances & time periods are not counted, but obviously you would need to explain that to them as it is rare that many actually know the rules.

As far as stay in UK the answer is forever, if you hold British Passport.
