But they do still have drink driving laws so you can still lose your licence if over the limit that I believe is Lower than the uk

€6 fine for not carring one but the offence isnt enforcible so in effect no offence committed.
I believe the French shelved the idea quite a while ago.

I don't think anybody has been advocating driving after drinking
As the law stood in France even if you were tee total you would have had to carry a tester
I think the French were looking at saving money by not using their own testers, cant imagine ever going through a court process on the back of a 99p test though!!
But as already qualified not now needed in France
