although its never been enforced, it was still a 'law' to have to carry a breathalyser kit in France, perhaps the AA and ferry companies have some spare ......... despite pushing them as requirements for the last few years, even though they knew the law wasnt enforceable

Drivers in France no longer need breathalyser kits

Drivers in France will no longer be obliged to carry breathalysers in their vehicles at all times, as the discredited and ignored law that required it has finally been formally scrapped.
