Warning cane up on the dash. Stop light issue, the rear break light not working.
I'm on campsite, opened up the breKlight housing, indeed one of the filaments in the bulb has blown. Reacrd the bulb, the sane warni g on the dash.

I'll look at the contacts later, is it worth giving it a spray of wd40?

Oh yes, just one 12v feed, how does the twin filament know which one to use?

Don't use WD40 on electrics it's an insulator and causes more problems than solves
Not sure it is an insulator? It is great for clearing out water/moisture which is a valid use in some automotive electric situation.

But if you have a dirty contact in your light fitting, get an emery board off your wife or some wet and dry and clean the contacts that way as WD40 will not shift corrosion.

Not all of us carry electrical contact spray around with us. In which case WD40 is actually better than nothing in my opinion. If it is broke it won't make things worse. If it is working fine it won't in the vast majority of cases break it.

The big problem with using WD40 is that it leaves a film which can/will attract dirt and end up gumming things up. But as an immediate fix not necessarily a bad thing so long as you clean things up later.

So nice of you to tell us how you rectified the problem. 🤔
I hVe no idea, I was at the site alone, lorrae had gone on a tour of Madrid. I changed the bulb, then looked at the dash, waning light still on, cleaned the terminals. Still the warning light on.

Lorraine came back asked her to get into the drivers seat. Press the break pedal as I had the multimeter out to check the voltage, she pressed the pedal a few times the warning light went off, brake light working?

I was working on the warning light alone, so I can only suspect the depressing of the brake pedal cleared the warning indicator, could hsve been OK after I changed the bulb, I'll never know.

Has Lorraine got a black cat and pointy hat by any chance?:ROFLMAO:

Sometimes it takes a womans touch, we were once stuck at Almeria pier due to a blocking signal. I had switched the engine off at the barrier to pay for parking, went to switch it back on and nothing. After trying many times Mrs bigtree gets in the drivers seat and voila it started. That's twice a blocking signal has stopped my alarm/immobilser from disabling in Spain.

Probably took a few activations to persuade the computer to reset the code. Worth noting for future reference. Thanks for sharing (y)
