Certainly easy and a worthwhile warning...
It was posted yesterday on another thread as well.

It was as simple as gripping the driver's door lock outer with a pair of plumbers grips and yanking it round. The electrically opened ALL doors. Just as quick as using a key !

Can someone please advise is this a recent problem? I have a friend contemplating the purchase of a 2004 transit based camper.

Hi carol... that will be the mark 6 which I never owned but suspect in terms of lock security it the same as all the others. .. easily opened ,but keep things in perspective...
Any motor home would be easily accessed by your average scroat.. so it's more about fitting some extra security...
I favour visible deterrents like disc locks and pedal clamps...etc.
And not wishing to be funny but at 2004 it's not going to be high on their must have vehicles unless it's made really easy..
Would also be quite easy to fit your own concealed switch .....
That's my thoughts.. if the van suits I wouldn't let the fact that it's a transit stop a purchase..
Andy.

For the sake of a few quid spent on a bit of extra security to compensate, I wouldn't be put off by these stories.

I bought a Ducato because I preferred the cab and engine, FIAT's backup was better both in the UK and in Europe, where we are most of the time. I didn't choose it for better security.

Thanks guys. I will advise my neighbour to look at something 'extra'. Given that it will be her only vehicle the inconvenience if nicked would be significant.
