Be careful! I bought breakdown cover when I bought the van, took in for a service later and when I was talking to the service manager he told me I had basic cover from Mercedes if serviced by them. All the breakdown insurers do is call them for you.
A similar cover was available from Ford for 3 years after purchase from new, we used it when the turbo pipe came adrift when on the motorway in France, We limped slowly to the first exit, at no more than 45mph. We then had a long conversation with the UK to convince them we were not on the motorway including getting the attendant at the motorway entrance to state we were parked at the entrance, we had to pay for the part a jubilee clip 2 Euros! Since then no problems for many years.
