Come to Germany! It's great for motorhoming/van life.
I posted yesterday about the break-up of the sink-top in our van, which was new in August 2018.

Other surfaces - namely parts of the wall under the fridge, the vertical wall under the sink-top, the narrow space at the bottom of the door - have broken/are breaking up and I'd like to post some photos about this and ask why, in your opinion, this has happened.

I should add that in cold weather, yes, there's a lot of condensation in there during the night. (The door, for example, gets very wet.) This is of course cleaned up in the morning but one would suppose that the design and construction of such a vehicle keeps in mind eventualities such as heavy condensation.

We do not get any condensation on furniture when its cold, we have background heating and air circulation.

I would be upset if that was happening to our investment you may want to consider redress (getting your money back)

It may be a longish journey but hope it all works out OK

Consumer rights act says
  • Satisfactory quality Goods shouldn't be faulty or damaged when you receive them. You should ask what a reasonable person would consider satisfactory for the goods in question. For example, bargain-bucket products won’t be held to as high standards as luxury goods.
  • Fit for purpose The goods should be fit for the purpose they are supplied for, as well as any specific purpose you made known to the retailer before you agreed to buy the goods.
  • As described The goods supplied must match any description given to you, or any models or samples shown to you at the time of purchase.

It would be good to see pictures that are not so close-up to get a better perspective....

Have you mentioned it to your dealer what make is it?. Ours shows nothing like that after 6 years. It doesn't look a very durable surface at all. It looks just to be foil wrapped particle board rather than what I think of as a laminate. As someone else said is it moisture on the surface causing that or moisture under the surface making it lift in which case its a bit more worrying.

A couple of boards in my van have started delaminating near the side door. The board is less than 2 years old and I will be pursuing the manufacturer who I think is Morland.
my van does not suffer from condensation and I can only put this down to rain water splashing but we are careful to wipe surfaces if we see them with drops.

That is damage caused by more than condensation. You either have a plumbing leak or water penetration from outside. I've had four 'vans, used all year round and never had condensation on the furniture.
That is major damage and you need to get back to the dealer asap.

I agree with Beltie, that's not just condensation, you shouldn't have to wipe doors down to remove condensation so somehow water/damp is getting in raising the moisture levels way above what they should be - have you done any damp testing with a meter to see if there is a leak somewhere?

Looks like major damp issues to me. I would get hold of a damp meter and do some checks. Looks like it's been or is that damp the top layers have become unstuck and bubbled off. When drying out, top surface, they have cracked.
Certainly a warranty issue. Imo.

What does the back of the step switch look like, I would unscrew it and take a peek

Did you have an annual habitation service after one year and if you did what were the damp readings ? You mentioned warranty in this or your other thread there is normally a requirement to have a habitation service to maintain that warranty . For a two year old van that damp looks horrendous ,best of luck trying to get it resolved with the dealer .

Our Moho is fifteen yrs old, used twelve months of the year and doesn’t have anything like that. I would be gutted if that was mine two years in.

Sorry but I have to agree with others - that looks like a more serious damp problem than just condensation.

But you mention you get a lot of condensation - we've never had any on furniture/wall surfaces despite the variety of countries and seasons we've been in. The only condensation we get is on the windscreen if I don't put the exterior screens on when it's cold. If your van does have a damp problem it may well be that using the heating is trying to dry it out resulting in a very high humidity = more condensation.

Don't forget that you MUST have adequate ventilation at all times which would also help damp to escape. Please don't tell us you've sealed up all the vents because of drafts - yep, seen it done and it's highly dangerous to your health. Not trying to impugne your intelligence but it's worth mentioning in passing for others of lesser experience to consider.
