It's ADAC.. But I think they have stopped taking new UK members.. In which case I'm sure some of the motorhome insurance specialists provide cover.. And the c&cc Ibelieve.
Rac do too.. But my understanding is that it'spretty expe nsive ..

Hi, personally I use RAC not cheap , but depends on how long you are going for you can get a years cover or cover for short period , we did the short time (by the day) we went this year for only 14 days worked out cheaper than getting a years cover.

Britannia Rescue for us, via the CSMA
We took out the deluxe cover and the personal cover. Unfortunately, we've had to use their services twice, whilst in Europe, but happy to report excellent door to door service, with vehicle reptriation within 21 days. They also cover up to 7.5 Tonnes.

Can't say the same about ADAC.

Regards,

Jock.

Jock.. I have never had to use Adac.. But there services are excellent and more than any UK company I have seen. I have also heard excellent reports about them.. Except where they have used the AA on a couple of occasions in the UK... Are you saying you've had to use them and they were no good or you never used them?

For us, it's Britannia Rescue. We insure through the CSMA.
We've used them just the once, but the service was brilliant !!
We'd highly recommend them.:thumb:

Hi there.

Yes, we've used them. The recovery agent they contracted sent a faulty recovery truck, which caused flat spots on our new front tyres, due to it's hydraulics failing. Then they abandoned us half in/half out of a layby for 5 x hours, on the wrong side of the carriagway before sending a low loader, which they then charged us €500 for the priviledge of. However, they didn't get their €500 until we were guaranteed 2 x new tyres, like for like. :winky:
The low loader and it's operator were the only aspects of the whole experience worth any praise.

The low loader driver was so thoughtful and professional, that we gave him a tip as a token of our appreciation. :thumb:

ADAC's medical cover and repatriation are worth a look though, but as pointed out above, they no longer take new customers with a UK address.

Regards,

Jock.

Hi Jock,

I am an ADAC member and am thinking of renewing particularly as I like the accident/medical cover.

Would it be fair to say that your poor experience was down to the first faulty recovery vehicle, and not directly ADAC'S fully and that had the low loader been sent in the first place you would have had nothing but praise.

Also I was wondering who charged the 500 ADAC or the recovery company.

Thanks. Ian

Hi Ian,

I should have put the following link up earlier, rather than try to give a brief recolection of events on this thread. >>Please see here<<

Ultimately, ADAC are responsible for the contractors they comission, to provide a service on their behalf.

Regards,

Jock.
