In the garage of my van there is brand new steel wheel and tyre which have never seen the light of day the date stamp on the tyre is 10/ 2010
I was thinking of having it taken off the rim and using it on one of my alloys at the rear (tag axle)
What do you think

I am sure someone with better knowledge than I, will point out the five year age but never seen the sun and without road wear, I would be happy keeping it on an alloy rim as a spare but unless you have some problem with an individual existing tyre, I would prefer to keep the tyres on the van at least matching their opposing partner rather than introducing a 'new' single tyre to the system.

Tenth week of 2010 date so it is in its 8th year of age already.

Most people change at that age or before.

ours was 10 year old, never rolled when we bought our van

But I took it off and put a brand new one on.

The tyres were £130+ retail but grabbed a bargain @ £45 each. Even so, at the £135 a corner, still good value and great piece of mind.
