Not for the first time.......If my memory serves me right Bilbo had a similar new van stolen from the show around 6/7 years ago may be a bit more.

I used to work around that area. I would leave anything, least of all a new vehicle, anywhere near South Birmingham.
They'll probably find it burnt out in any one of the "estates" around the area in a few days!

By all accounts, Bilbo had already sold the van, so I hope the buyers insurance will pay up?

Not long enough!
Surly the number plate recognition should have picked it up with no valid tax as new van?

Unbelieevable - from the show!!!

This is off the Bilbao website - stolen whilst being loaded onto a transporter :rolleyes:

STOLEN! New camper stolen from the NEC today 20th October 2014.
After a long week exhibiting at the NEC in Birmingham, one of our demonstrators was stolen whilst being loaded to the transporter to come home!
It is a Bilbo’s Lezan based on the Long wheelbase with high top roof and full height rear doors, finished in Natural grey metallic and is Brand new so will probably have gone straight on to fake number plates. It has distinct alloy wheels and a black roll out awning on the side, single rear seats and a toilet right at the back.
Please call us on 01342 892499 with any sightings or Birmingham police.
Please find our facebook page under ‘Bilbo’s’ like it and share the link.
Thank you!

In the days when the motor show was held at the NEC, vehicle thefts were not unusual. With large numbers of vehicles being marshalled in car parks to get them in / out of the halls, there was always someone hanging around just waiting for the opportunity. they never have much fuel in, but plenty of places nearby to race around until it ran out. I recall seeing on local tv that a youngster had simply pushed a very expensive motor bike away.

How on earth was it stolen whilst being loaded? Maybe they mean it was stolen whilst they were loading others and this one was waiting ( apparently with nothing in it except keys in the ignition)

Like you I suspect someone left the keys in it. I wonder if it is insured if stolen with the keys in the ignition?

Living the dream.
It's a stupid thing to let happen but it will I suppose be a massive financial loss to the company if, as suspected, the insurance won't pay out.

It's not easy to maintain security towards the end of a big event when stuff's being dismantled and loaded up for departure. I did quite a few collectors' events at the NEC some years ago, and the setting up and packing up time were always the nightmare for me, working single handed. Still is in other places now.
