Sooner have an airbag than a pointless map clip any day.

A map clip aint going to stop you nearest and dearest getting a face full of dashboard in a head-on impact.

I don't think it was ever meant to be raised. I've driven quite a few Boxer/Ducato based vehicles and the map clamp has never raised. I had a closer look on our current MH and it's actually clipped down. There's no way it could possibly ever lift up air bag or no airbag.

Mine lifted up on the pre-facelift one and now on the new one.
Funny sort of place for an air bag.

The airbag is not under there (took my dash to bits) it could be made to lift but I think it's fastened down in case the airbag 'deploys wrongly' or possibly punctures. Probably best left alone.
