Hi Funsters
Have you any tips about how to boost a WiFi signal please? We tend to use a laptop to access iPlayer etc for our viewing .Please assume I’m a complete duffer on IT issues (which I generally am) Many thanks !

Thanks Zigisla, although this is the sort of question where I take a deep breath before answering or if I'm late to the party leave well alone as I'm sometimes as confused as the OP by the 10th well-intended reply!

In 2020, you likely don't want to be 'boosting a WiFi signal' especially if you want to stream TV services. Most campsites that have the capacity to let all its visitor's stream TV generally has invested in the relatively inexpensive equipment to broadcast it around the site. Likewise any 'free' WiFi you might happen upon is going to be limited and while this was fine back in the days of the odd e-mail it's not going to cut the mustard with the demands of iPlayer etc.

You're better off going down the Mobile Broadband route and paying for your data via a SIM card. You can get Unlimited UK data from just £20 for 30 days and you can boost a signal with a 4G router in your van and a roof-mounted 4G antenna. Some people are so dead against paying for anything that they'd rather struggle on with a WiFi booster but ultimately I think the minuscule (compared to just a few years ago) data charges now are a small price to pay for internet on-demand allowing you to get on with enjoying your leisure time.

If you're at the NEC, come and have a chat on Stand 3220 - sometimes these things are easier face to face.

Or, check out out our contributions in the Motorhome Fun magazine which is a good place to start:

Thanks very much - extremely helpfully advice :giggle:
