Unless I made a booboo, all I was offered toward the end of February was the Economie to Bilbao. I do not want that boat in the winter (or summer, come to that). The next sailing with a cabin I was offered was March 15, a bit too late for what I wanted. Is everyone trying to leave the country before Brexit?

I'll have another go I suppose. I find the whole process of booking on t'internet winds me up, I end up giving up. Or I could try C&CC.

Why not ring them up and speak to a human?

The routes do get booked up pretty quick.

Good help you if u want a dog friendly cabin - they sell out almost instantly.

We have been on a half empty ferry but the car/lorry decks were still full. :xThumb:

We have a booking on the Cap Finnestere from Bilbao to Portsmouth on 19 March

Nothing to do with Brexit, 'cause we're flying to Tuscany on 29 March! :xsurprised: :xThumb:

We wanted the Pont Avenue from Santander to Plymouth, but that doesn't start until just before the end of March. :xangry:

Anyway, we'll see how it goes on the CF... :)

The Pont Aven is doing the Portsmouth - St Malo route until late March

We've just travelled back on the Cap Finistere from Bilbao and it was rough on the Thursday apparently but it's a big ship and very stable. The winds were storm force 8 or 9 so difficult to walk in a straight line but we felt quite safe and slept well. I wouldn't worry too much.
We are going back in Feb but on the Baie de Seine, there is a funster who claims to be an ex mariner who says that this economy vessel is just as stable unlike the Etretat. We shall see. Wish I'd made a note of his name haha...
There is a few weeks when only the economy ferries are in action on the Spanish crossing. For us living so close to Portsmouth and Plymouth it doesn't really make sense to drive all the way to Dover and then down through France, especially in a modern PVC with good fuel economy and as members of Club Voyage. We love France but when the weather's better.

I've been on both the economie boats, mostly in reasonably good weather, though twice my van was placed on the open deck, and onetime the van was so heavily covered in salt it looked like a block of salt, we had to throw a lot of (our own, no help from them) water over the screen just to drive off the vessel. I've not been on an economie boat since. So I have been considering driving through France if economie is the only choice for the time I want. Maybe the Baie de Seine does not have an open deck. I'd like to hear of your experience on it, although it will be too late to help me for my trip.

We’ve been on the open deck on the Cap Finistere as well so the only dead cert is the Pont Aven. We will keep you informed but will be hoping for a smooth crossing!

I've just looked at their timetable and 15 March is the first sailing in 2019 of one of their "cruise" ships. Before that in Jan and Feb it is only economy sailings. I guess they are doing work on some of their fleet during this period.
