Did a PPI claim got all sent in at the same time, all except one, paid out on same day straight into my bank account :giggle:
Today got a text they are paying out the final amount, but they are sending a bl--dy cheque WTF it is over the limit for the photograph and pay in they know my date of birth and that I should be social distancing. Just don't undestand the logic at all.:mad::mad:

This way they keep your money in their account for longer and can get the interbank rate until you are in a position to process it. I believe that the collective term for these people is “a wunch of bankers”.

Oh dear we have the same problem. Rose rang them and asked for the cheque to be cancelled . and the amount to be paid into our account. No way once issued they can not do it. And as you have said even on there app you can only pay in £500 at a time. ????. We can not get to the bank We are both over 70.

doesn't bear thinking about, I have 3 bank accounts one has the nearest branch in Leeds. Other 2 are in the city centre so bus, no chance, car ok but no parking near either branch and would it be classed as 'essential' travel. Doubt i would get them on the phone but will give it a try.

would still have to go out to the post office and would want it guaranteed delivery/signed for or whatever they are doing at the moment.
Mnaged to get them on the phone, several heques all under the online/phone limit, no sorry, it will be in date for 6 months, did point out with what is going on that might be an issue. apparantly they are working at ways to get round it, but as it is a CC PPI it has to be paid by cheque.

didn't think they did all banks and as they don't really know me would i need ID if they do that is an option as there is one that could be part of my daily exercise route. Might be panicking for nothing not got the cheque yet :ROFLMAO:

The counter staff just give you a slip, you fill it in, they take it from you - job done

Got a 2 PPI offers in January and it took one of them weeks for them to acknowledge the acceptance the bank involved finally offered payment by the end of March, then recieved letter saying payment will be sometime in 2020 due to Corona virus. The other paid out end of Febrary. It must take the same amount of time to do a bank transfer as it does to send me a letter.

I can take pictures on my phone for my Lloyds account.
take a picture of the front and back and it deposits it in my account.

scotzsue

HAHAHA if they are like my Bank you will find that the nearest branch is closed "temporarily" due to Coronavirus. Catch-22, sneaky or what.

The Banks rely on the probability that it takes some customers 3 months or longer to pay in a cheque.

Can you get someone to go to the bank for you? Or via the Post Office? Absolutely stupid using cheques these days.

I wrote out my first cheque since 2017
The one before that was 2015
My cheque book was started in 2011
and still has a way to go, I suspect it will outlive the usage of cheques.

Many people now in their late 20's have never had a cheque book, and have never written a cheque.

My bank is offering families a free trip to Norway if you open a young persons account, the prize draw is at the end of April. It's a Spanish bank (Openbank owned by Santander), unbelievable.

I was just going to say the same, we always pay cheques in using a phone.
there is a limit to the size of the check though the cheque i will receive is above this amount. didn't realise you could use the post office we do have one, which if still open will be doable, so long as i don't go on pension/benefit day.

It is perfectly legal to write out a cheque on plain paper (as long as it satisfies the requirements of a negotiable instrument) but getting a Bank to accept it is quite another matter. I tried once to see if it would work when my cheque book ran out ... oh dear :banghead:

So much for theory, and practice.

We are lucky one of my sons is still working . He drives coaches for the schools. So also does our shopping . So he is going to put the cheque in for us.
