Well, I am originally a Finnish guy living in Eastern France with my wife since 2009. We finally bought our camper a year ago and been driving now around 20 000 km around France. Of course also one trip to Finland is included in those kilometers...

We associate the camperlife to the life on boats, as we had some when still living in the north. So no surprises or disappointments, when you have the right attitude both with the car and the road.

We really love France, when looking it behind the steering wheel of a camping car, of course there are the local "french" rules and habits you need to understand (or at least to know...), but otherwise the level of the services and the common camper culture are just great!

I am writing a blog, in Finnish of course, about our trips and other information in France. But the translator is available, if you want to tackle with the machine-translated text... http://albinkarmann.blogspot.com

From this community I really want to learn new things, again, and join to the good company !

Bonjour et bienvenue.

I lived in a France for about 7 to 8 years total, know what you mean by all the local rules but on the dhole I found it great, with roads far quieter than here.

This is the best MH forum there is..... Great bunch of people.
Love France too and spend time in the south west around the greater Toulouse area.

Salut et Bienvenue from here too!

Having been brought up with the French rules, I just do with them....except when I'm really upset by them ....then I just show a finger:LOL: (sorry to be rude!:sneaky:) ...part of French identity:p

But as you said , nice place to roam about... designed for travels' lovers! I love my country!

Amicalement

Frankie:)
