3 years and learning!
Have spent some time over the last couple of days fitting the BMV 712 battery monitor which is working fine, I also used the opportunity to upgrade some cabling and connectors, on the main 12v feed from the 2 leisure batteries to the hab electrics, apart from the poor cable, both positive and negative were fused close to the batteries, can anyone explain why there would be a fuse on the negative side? the van is an elderly 1999 Swift Royale.
With the monitor a rather long data cable is supplied, is there a "better" way to store the excess or is it ok just coiled up and tucked out of harms way :xsmile:

Happy New Year to all.

No need for a fuse on the negative I would remove it.
You can just coil the data cable up or cut it and fit anew RJ12 connector on the end but that would mean buying a crimp tool. Or you Could buy a cable the right length on ebay.

Thanks Lenny, I have removed it 'cos couldn't see the need but then started to question it, going to replace the cable anyway when I can pluck up the courage to crawl around underneath on a voyage of discovery.
The data cable I can just coil up out of the way.

Cheers.
