I'm a newbie
I have had a blue tit roosting in my bird box for some months now my question is will it nest in my box or will it only use it to roost in.

My guess is they will breed if he has a mate

What camera system are you using? And is that cotton wool you put in the box? Since moving house I can’t seem to attract any little birds to nest. Too many urban seagulls nearby I think.
I hope you are lucky with nesting.

I would expect bluetits to start nest building soon but with this very cold weather there won’t be much food for chicks for a while.
At least bilM has a bird roosting which must be a good start. There is no sign of interest in our box at the moment and definitely no sign of anything roosting in there.
Looks like a Garden Nature box, same as ours. Am I right?

Richard.

I can recommend the Wansview cameras, good price , easy to install, motion and night vision, alerts to your phone

I have a pair that have made their nest in the eave of our house, there is a small gap and I noticed a bird with buiding material in it's beak so watched where it went. I then put cotton wool on a few bushes which they and goldfinches took.

Thats lovely, I groom my dog 🐕 in the back garden and leave the hair in the trees

+1 for Green Feathers boxes. This is ours earlier in March when they were starting to build their nest. No cotton wool here I'm afraid. Ours is the PoE camera with additional LED lighting so we get a colour picture even if they are blocking the hole!
