I really want it from a accessory shop otherwise it gets expensive with C&P from eBay and Amazon.

Why use Blue? It is awful stuff, we use washing powder, usually Lidl but whatever we can get, at present in Morocco it is OMO (remember that?)
There is no smell we go for five days at a time and everything is liquified.
It is almost pleasant emptying except when following someone with Blue or worse still Green.
I also empty into my sceptic tank at home with no problems.
Also available very cheaply wherever you are.
Ditch the Chemicals you will never regret it.

Another vote for washing powder, :thumb: (in tablet form for us) in our SOG toilet, and for all the same reasons the OATs give above. :winky:

Cheers,

Jock.

Washing powder

If you use washing powder, what ratio do you mix it with water. And is it ok to use with an electric flush

Sorry to ask but what is a SOG toilet? I know I may regret asking. :Eeek:

We use Bio washing liquid in those little dis-solvable packs, after emptying the cassette add a bit of water to start off and then drop the little pack down the loo. I sometimes cut open a pack when I fill the flush, I don't like the idea of that plastic in the floush as it doesn't seem to dissolve completely. I keep thinking I should buy some in bottle form for the flush.

Jock I thought SOG toilets negated the need to use any additives whatsoever. Just a change of the carbon filter every 12 months.

We use something similar in our septic tank after it has been de-sludged. There are different brands - we get it in the farm shop and just ask for the "septic tank activator" and they have the stuff for the job.

I've got a bottle of blue bio in my van. Just there in case I run out of supermarket bio wash liquid which is much better, smells nicer and is a fraction of the price.

When we last bought some, it was from one of the shows - hence the suggestions for 'septic tank friendly'/biological alternatives

Might it be worth contacting them to see if they are doing any of the shows this year...?

Shall be switching to biological washing liquid in the future

Can't think why you're insisting on using Blue Bio given all the good advice that has been posted on here:RollEyes:

The bio liquids and tablets work out much cheaper and work just as well if not better.

We've also got a septic tank........but the only thing we were advised to put into that was a dead rabbit.

Is blue bio in fact still in production , looking around their website , it doesn't seem to have been updated since August 2012, perhaps explains why it's so hard to find:Doh:

There's plenty of environmentally friendly toilet chemicals. They're normally called "green" to distinguish them from earth destroying "blue". It seems Blue Bio's marketing department didn't notice the switch.

When I used to have to use the stuff, I usually got it from Go Outdoors. These days I have a marine toilet and don't bother even with bio washing liquid.

You are reight Ken, SOG does negate the need to use additives, however, adding the washing powder tablet subdues the gut rotting stench, thereby relieving me of the need to throw up every time I have to empty the blooming thing. :roflmto:

Addenton said:

I use 1 x tablet normally if emptying frequently, or 2 x tablets if emptying infrequently, due to the use of site toilets for example, but as said above, my reasoning is mainly to quell the stench, although the washing powder does appear to break down the contents, much quicker that the natural bacteria alone does. :winky:

Cheers,

Jock.

I make me own, go to the cheap shop get a block of 6 toilet blocks for a £1, cut them in half, put them in a 5 ltr can with some hottish water, to dissolve, when all dissolved to up with cold water give good shake, been using this way for over a year, no horrible smells. :thumb:

Ray,
Spot on, they are made round so they just pop in the spout of the Cassette, we 'Tight Wad's Up North have been using them for years.
Why do you think 'Poundland' sell them that way? Its because us 'Travellers
like them that way. p.s. In Blue or Green
Best Regards Mac

Sorry, I realised I didn't answer you question fully.
Regarding the amount of water, you only need enough in the bottom of the cassette, to dissolve the powder or tablets.
As you are not using this method in your flush tank, it won't matter if you have electric or manual flushing. :thumb:
