newbie learning fast and sometimes the hard way
Have a Nuevo on a Peugeot 2.2 base 2007. Had the blown bulb light appear on the dashboard, tracked down to bulbs had blown, number plate and high level running light, duly changed the bulbs with new ones expecting the light to go out. Have checked every bulb inside and out and the are all working. Hand book say to refer to chapter later on, which only tells you how to change the various different bulbs. Any suggestions what might be the problem of how to get it off

Thanks in advance

Will give it a try

If you have replaced with a different wattage or an led type replacement then ythis may cause the warning light to stay on, if you have used the same bulb type try cleaning the connections around the bulb.

check all the connectors as well as the bulbs a high resistance on a connection can put the warning light on

I would still be looking for another failed bulb that you haven't spotted yet

the fault light can only have been triggered by one of the two you found gone, think they might be coincidence

We have a Peugeot car that was coming up with all sorts of faults, turns out it is the earth wire to the rear light cluster.
Have you disturbed it when changing the bulb.

sometimes you see some really odd light operations on the back of trailers, indicators on wrong side, brake lights flashing instead of indicators, often when braking and indicating at same time

get someone to sit in and see if they all work properly in all configurations, including hazards and brake at same time

then I am with chaser, if not working right its a bad connection (y)

Not familiar with that vintage & model, but sometimes you have to get a diagnostic thingy to reset and clear the fault? Happened on a car I had, loose cable connection activated warning light but despite fixing, light remained on until reset by dealer. All designed to part you from your money!

A bit more detail , our Peugeot 407 was flashing up brake light faulty when using the indicators, and indicater light faulty when useing the brakes, Google Peugeot rear light cluster , there is loads about it, but it all comes down to earth wire.

I had this on my MoHo. So in the end I decided to pull each headlight and swap all three bulbs in each headlight and this solved the issue. I can’t remember which bulb it was that was causing it, but it was a working bulb.

I had this and ended up changing all the side, front and rear marker light fittings to clear the fault light. Real pain.

Had the dreaded light on my Fiat - MES said rear left indicator - checked but all fine - reset and not come back - go figure?

Not 100% sure but I doubt the bulb failure system will detect number plate bulb failure. Possibility that high level bulb is covered changing 1 side only may not be enough.

Have you got a tow bar electrics installed? Could be a fault on the smart bypass relay? Good luck.

Update - thanks for all the responses - changed all 4 high level running lights and thought i had solved the problem the bulb warning light went off for about five minutes, and then came back on. So think probably a loose connection, only downside is the previous owner has used so much sealent, filler or whatever to hold the lenses and wires in place I need to strip it all out clean up the connections etc to make sure that it is the fault -wish me luck, a busy weekend ahead before our first trip of the year the following weekend

a good 60% of electrical faults on vehicle lights are down to bad earth connections. The rest being poor fitting contacts or cheap bulbs. I have seen the last one several times with a cheap chinese bulb fitted and the fault remains. Change the bulb out for a quality one and all is good again

Yep. Mine was cheap Chinese bulbs causing it.

Mine on my autosleeper Broadway was a failed rear brake light bulb. Warning light didn't go out until I ran engine and pressed the brake pedal a few times. Warning - brake and rear lights are combined in one double bulb.

Another thing to check for is to make sure that the rear brake/tail light bulb filaments haven't gone crusty and are shorting out on each other.
I has a SAAB a few years ago and it told me I'd got a tail light failure which, when I put my foot on the brake pedal, changed to brake light failure!

Ii had the same problem with one of our Saabs. Changing the blown bulb with one from the bulb kit that came with the car made no difference.
After a bit of thinking I put a bulb in from my own stock to see if it made any difference. The warning light went out so I assume the bulb kit was a cheap on line purchase by the last owner.

A far as I know the systems compare the current in the left hand side to the current on the right hand side, that was befoe ECUs.
I should think that the modern systems compare the current flowing through the lamp, perhaps with another or with a predetermined setting hence anything that changes that current whether its a blown bulb or one thats getting old or lower rating or a poor earth or bad connection will change the current and light the warning indicator.
Hope this helps

The new system has a predetermined range for the circuit, allowing for the resistance to vary with age. This table of values is compared and if the circuit is drawing too much current will turn the circuit off to protect the wiring. If the current drawn drops, it will assume a bulb failure and turn the led on the dash on, sometimes with a warning message. It is often too smart though and a wiring fault is often not as easy as it was to trace. Although in practice faults are regularly found at earth points behind the headlight clusters on modern vehicles. LED lights tend to take a fraction of the current of incandescent lamps, so faults are triggered by much lower increases in resistance. So even minor corrosion on a screw on the inner wing will cause problems. And we all know that that is just the area that gets damp whilst driving in the rain and so corrosion quickly sets in

Where the bulb failure warning system has two identical bulbs (L/H & R/H), it compares the resistance of both circuits. If, say, it’s a sidelight that’s blown, it may be necessary to replace them both as a pair.

Same issues with our old 2008 Boxer
Apparently it's something that can occur and keep showing even though there's no fault

I disagree, sorry, it's just the person that told you that, can't find the fault. Which circuit is showing the fault?

It was our dealer at the time, we don't have the vehicle anymore.
They replaced the bulbs and not long after the broken bulb light illuminated again sporadically

That tells me all I need to know. Experts at a lot of things apparently, but most of all lying to customers to palm them off. A sporadic fault as you put it can be a right pain in the bum to trace. Man hours are the biggest expense with most businesses. And they rarely pay others to solve problems, as it's cheaper to have the guy that cleans the vans to fit a bulb. An hour or maybe two with an autoelectrician would usually resolve it. They know where to start looking of course
