That's a real pain, you have my sympathy. However you might want to check actual cost of replacement before going through your insurers (@Theonlysue ?? ). Do you have an excess and what is the effect of a claim going to be on your renewal premium. May be better to just bite the bullet. However NFU do have a good claims reputation.

Nice mess ,are you sure it was a pheasant and not a peasant that gave you the bird.

We had a similar collision with a big cock pheasant on our way back up France. Thankfully it only knocked the mirror glass out and Lynda managed to catch it swinging on the heater wires and it clicked back in although not perfectly. The daft thing is had it been a nano second different in its speed it would have been in the cab with us.

I hit a hare once on the way to work, smashed the front bumper completely. It’s the time of year that they lose sense looking for a mate.

Ouch!
If you decide to buy one your self they are a lot cheaper in Germany, if you are RHD, buy a LHD drive one and swap the dip unit, they are adjustable for flat dipping anyway.

Just warned @Jim about one of these feckers today eating in the road. Was expecting it to go suicidal but fortunately it didn't...

Wow, I'm surprised the light lens is glass and not plastic and I have a good recipe of pheasant if you need it.

Hymer headlamp tempered glass, the subject of "exploding headlights " on here in the past.
Tempered glass is a bad idea , abandoned on windscreens years ago.

The strange thing is Sue we were only just discussing ordering some when we got home then bang the impact even smashed the plastic backing of the light.
PS
Protecters now ordered for new light. Talk about after the horse and all that

It wouldn't have hit the lens on the old van Steve. Serves you right you are earning far too much disposable income!

I would be interested in NFU outcome

Ever since lighting was by Calor gas.
I have occasionally picked up a 'road kill' pheasant and provided it doesn't have rigor mortis and its base hasn't been bashed up its apex I've cooked them.

Only slight positive I can offer Steve is at least it is the nearside light, so any possibility of it still having one of the duff light units fitted is overcome now o_O

£1400 inc VAT 2 years ago via Travel World, plus fitting, ours does have washers though

I am interested to know where you have sourced protectors from, I tried and failed following my issues, where Hymer insisted mine was stone chip damage, no doubt for you at least o_O

I have also heard that some got fitted over seas for less, but watch out for the washer bit and ours has bi xenon lights so needs the right connections for that, best of luck sorting it quickly

I also hope your new one fits, we had to modify ours, the new one had a slightly different profile, needed grinding to fit :(

That's the ones I have ordered @DavidG58 thanks Sue I did have a look on the Hymer owners group but don't do face book.
Had two quotes Brownhills £1320 and TW £950 so I think insurance can pay.
