I`m beginning to have second thoughts...

All the little Finches.. Tit`s (Various).. Sparrows .. in actual fact most of the normal garden birds we have are diminishing rapidly... cos of the Magpies and Crows...

So I think I will have to put my inhibitions behind me... and "Man up"...

I wouldn't care if they ate them after their carnage, but they don't. Seem to be closest to the species of man and do it for the Hell of it...

Sorry bout your birds, Roger..

One year. A whole one!
When I lived in Australia, I used to run around the local cricket stadium regularly. Each lap was 600m, so it was pretty big.

Bloody magpies used dive-bomb me whenever they nested as I ran near them. Even when I altered my path a little (like by 20 metres), they'd still have a go. Bloody menace and not a little disturbing.

Shoot the little feckers. :thumb:

And what, may I ask, about the poor lickle fishy wishies (Mummy Fish's babies) swimming around minding their own business when they spot the equivalent of a Mars Bar dangling in front of them?

One nibble and they are history...

magpies

orrible things. dominate everything. Our cat managed to drag one in via the cat flap. got itself into kitchen. We then saw 8 others sitting on fence watching, obviously hearing the distress call. did fly off once we opened window. Blxxdy cat also got pigeon through as well once!

I do.

I always salute them and I consider it a bad omen if I don't.

Gets you some funny looks though, especially if there are loads of them as each needs to be saluted separately.::bigsmile:

Chris don't salute them if there is an even number!!!:whatthe: You are saluting one to stop bad luck, an even number is good luck so you are saluting to stop good luck if you do...

yep, everytime i see a lone one when i'm driving, a quick 'salute' and 'hope that your family are okay', have to say though that passengers who might be with me think i'm barking mad and take the 'p', but i've always done it to ward off bad luck and i ain't going to stop now..

isn't the spitting thing to do with touching wood for luck, surely it's touch wood, spit and whistle..

we're a supesrstitious lot aren't we, well some of us by the looks of it..

when i was showing my dogs, i used to look for two magpies together and then four, (he was a male beardie) and as the rhyme went, one for sorrow, two for joy, three for a girl, four for a boy..
it never failed if we saw two or four, we'd come back with a first prize..:thumb:

Oh God - all those years:Sad:

One for sorrow
Two for Joy
Three for a girl
Four for a boy.

Why would 4 be lucky for me, surely 3 would be ?

I am sticking with saluting them all:thumb:
