Swift Suntor 590RL
Hi, new member here.
I have just bought (a month ago) a 2006 Swift Suntor 590RL.
Been away twice in it and love it.
The rear window roller blind (not the fly screen) mechanism doesn"t work (believe it is a Dometic/Seitz)
I have tried Swift dealers for a complete replacement unit but have been told that size of roller blind is discontinued. I have also tried various motorhome accessory shops and motorhome/caravan breakers with no luck.
Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions.
Thanks in advance.

Hi there headlight. :welcome4:

Do you have a photograph of the blind please?
When you say that the mechanism doesn't work, do you mean at all, or only one way?

When the interior frame surrounds and corner caps are removed, there is access to the workings, which often consist of a cotton type tensioning cord, running from left to right along the back of the blind, via a nylon guide each side, and terminating with tiny springs for tensioning. Some models allow adjustment of the tensioning cords.

Twice now, the cords on mine have jumped the nylon guides, rendering the blind totally useless, until fixed. I used a working blind as a template, to identify the problem, and remedy. I repaired ours from outside with the window open.

Good luck. (y)

Cheers,

Jock. :)

It doesn"t work either way.
The tensioning is via a plastic cog on the left hand end of the cassette.
It is obvious that someone has worked on it before as the plastic cog has lots of screwdriver marks on it and is quite badly damaged so
it just jumps out of its recess.
Also the holes the two screws that hold the inner end plate (plate over the cog) in are stripped.
If it weren"t for this I could probably re tension it.
The roller blind material is ok with no rips.

I dont know if they can help but have a look at www.vanconversionshop.co.uk
Thanks for the link but nothing on there approaching the size I need.
The blind is 152cm wide outside of blind runner to outside of blind runner and the drop is 60cm.
It is a big window.

I wish you had typed that info out from the start. It would have saved me a bit of typing.

If you can't source the spares, then it looks like a replacement.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Tried them both and my size is no longer available.
Was told my size was discontinued as they broke a lot as they were so big.
