Hi all.

We keep our motorhome in a storage facility when not using it, and wondered what people who do the same do with their cab/habitation blinds during this period i.e. do you close them or leave them open?

We leave nothing of value (removable) in there, and looking at others storing theirs in the same facility it seems some leave them closed and some open.

What do you do and why?

I have differing thoughts. People skulking around (although it is a secure CaSSOA site) can see there is nothing of note to pinch, but not sure if them closed for weeks on end would allow the sun to damage them in any way?

Would welcome your thoughts.

Thanks.

camping and caravanning since a kid. New to motorhomes
We generally close ours mainly to ensure the sun isn’t on the internal furnishings

We would leave them open to reduce pressure on springs.

We keep our MH at home where any passer-by could have a nose in through the windows so I close mine (they go up) about 3/4 of the way up so the heat from the sun is not trapped by the blind.

We are in storage also, for the last 20 years I have closed ours to prevent sun on the furnishings as said above and in them 20 years not had a problem with the springs or excessive heat build up.

Yes I hadn't really given the sun on the furnishings a thought. I have them closed at the moment so will see how that goes.

Thanks for all the input, experience speaks volumes!

We leave ours closed. But after packing away this winter we forgot and left them open and after the very cold spell they were covered in mould spores so back to leaving them shut.

3/4 closed. !
Most of our windows and skylights have a warning sticker not to leave blinds fully shut in hot sun for an extended period, as the heat build up between the blind and window can cause problems. So we just close them nearly shut and leave a slot open at the top so scroats can't see in.
