unless someone educates those who invade blind spots as to what blind spots are and why, can't see a lot of point.

Have seen a few HGVs of late with that signage.

Ahh well we live in hope, but am concerned that the process of natural selection may be in danger!

that's weird, I've seen quite a few of these stickers (not as big) on the rear of a lot of LGV's in the past few weeks. Is it the UK's version of Angles Morts

Serious question Tribalbrit when is that particular position a blind spot ?

Perhaps when you are sat in the cab and looking in the nearside mirror and failing to see the ****** cyclist resting on the underrun bar

I asked when it's a blind spot...serious question...not if cyclists are ***
I'm wondering how the mirror doesn't see there and when

There is definitely a blind spot there on most trucks. Hence the reason so many cyclists have been injured or killed. This is why you now see many HGV vehicles with that type of warning along with cameras and audible left turn signals i.e When the left hand indicator is operated there is an audible sound externally along the lines of "attention this vehicle is turning". I believe it is mandatory for HGV's driving in London now to have warning signs, cameras, fresnel lenses etc. I believe it is called the Direct Vision Standard for trucks over 12 tonnes GVW.

Trucks need a kind of trafficator like the old moggy minor.

I suggest adapting a cattle prod. 10,000 volts would get the attention of most dozy cyclists.

More to the point why is any vehicle allowed on the road with 'blind spots'? Video cameras and software are cheap enough (even additional correctly placed mirrors would do it) so why isn't nil blind spots a requirement. I agree with everything said about idiots on foot or bicycle but drivers have always had to save them from themselves.

So I'm in my vehicle with anti blind spot cameras ,mirrors, beepers, etc; etc; & the half -wit still comes up the inside. Bearing in mind that I drive & stop as close to the kerb as possible, which is how I was taught, i'm still going to run them over just due to the fact that they are attempting to illegally overtake me on the inside.:giggle:

Tis a bit like being the the correct lane to take the required exit at a roundabout and some less than competent driver decides its ok to undercut and take the less congested lane with the hope of cutting in BUT has assumed your in a car, not an X-metres motorhome, AND should have given way to a more aggressive driver. Particularly as their vehicle is older than yours or (been there done this, now reformed) it's a company vehicle no worries.

Going to throw this in for consideration:

WHY is everything that happens to you that you're not happy with somebody else's fault?

Sometimes sh!t happens suck it up and move on.

Anyone else notice it's hot ATM and not away in the van

As I said I agree with all the comments re cyclists and pedestrians and you're correct in that they need to take responsibility for themselves. However many safety systems have been added to most vehicles over the years and as they became available: I'm surprised that blind spots are still allowed to exist. Children and non-driving adults may well struggle to understand the fact that blind spots exist and for that reason alone better visibility for the driver should be built-in.

Or you could stop just in time :giggle: . I'm thinking more of confined spaces, cities, etc and of kids and others who may be unaware of, or choose to ignore, blind spots.

Once worked with a driver ( on artic's)who told me that once when turning left he looked into the mirror on time to see the trailer wheels climbing the bonnet of a mini. The driver of the mini when asked why they had tried to go up the inside replied" I thought you had put the wrong indicator on"
