Hi all
I am sure a lot of you motorhomers out there get the black
streaks down the side of your m/h,i don't mind cleaning
them off a little bit of elbow grease and they are gone.
My question is where do they come from?

I think dirt is attracted to the sealer round the windows etc so I clean them with a toothbrush and some cleaner. This usually does the trick- you can see the muck on the brush-lasts for a good while too.

Hi jim
I know what you are saying about dirt on the roof, but on our
mohican we have a 4in upstand running along both sides of
the m/h which shutes the water off front and back.
I always keep the top of the upstand clean as i can reach this
from my steps, but we still get black streaks.

The black streaks can be from the carbon in the rubber seals around windows and awning strips Fenwicks motorhome cleaner works their black streak remover is just a watered down ready to use version

it's from the sealant i find, you'll never stop it, i was up on my vans roof in april with flash liquid, mclords black streak remover, bleach and so on scrubbing all the seals and the entire roof,

sides stayed streak free untill i drove the van, then must have picked up road grime, dust or what ever, and i get streaks again, one of the things you have to live with when you own a motorhome that's not buit as a one piece shell... but even them as soon as you add an awning or roof vent, you've got sealant and will get streaks.

Best removal product

Hi

A couple of weeks after cleaning the mh, the black streaks have returned. I generally use a basic car shampoo to clean them and to be honest its hard going to completely remove them? As Gary mentioned earlier its par for the course, but I would be very interested to hear from you folks as to what product(s) you find the most effective? Also does regular waxing with a good car wax help?

I have found the best way is to use Fenwicks motorhome cleaner, its a red liquid, mix with water and spray on with garden sprayer, rub marks with soft brush don't worry what it looks like, or even if it dries. Then rinse with Ferwicks Bobby Dazzler from top first, then dry with cloth.:Eeek:
Have only polished metal parts, seems to work for me:winky: done it for years on various motorhomes, and caravans.

Black treaks

I have told numerous people about getting rid of streaks and so far nobody has denied it does the job.
Go to LIDL and purchase the BATHROOM MOUSSE W5 its fantastic and only 99p so try it out.

I wash the whole motorhome in it on a sponge and so far the streaks have stayed away quite a long time.

Also does quite well in the bathroom HA HA
