Just been looking at a slight problem with the electric step when I noticed that one of the struts that fixes the skirt had a slight issue where it fits into the floor.
It looks like there is some rot in the underfloor, the rubberised waterproofing is loose and the plywood is rotten there.
The van is a Mirage 5000 and as I understand it the floor is a sandwich with 60mm (?) of insulation between, I guess, two layers of ply. The 60mm might well be total thickness rather than the insulation thickness.
Anyway, the top (internal) surface looks fine and I suspect that the issue has been caused by a knock to the rear corner of the van that the previuos owners had. I had to get someone to try and repair the repair last year.
My question would be whether there is anything I could do temporarily until I can get it sorted later this year. We are off to Norway at beginning of Novembner for 5-6 weeks and I really don't want to try and get it sorted before we go. My probings have removed a bit of the rubberised waterproofing but as this has obviuosly been an issue for some time I can't see that would make much difference.
Is it better to leave well alone until a repair is done?
Thanks
