Going across the water to France driving through Spain to Portugal - 12 weeks - Looking to purchase annual subscription for Electronic toll tag as will be going again within 12 month period of subscription.
Looking at either Bip & Go ... or ... Bip & Drive
Anyone got any thoughts on if there is a big difference ? Think they are sister companies

As I mentioned on an similar thread a few days ago…….

Recently cancelled Sanef/Bip & Drive (using two tags….. one for France, one for Spain/Portugal). After some research, I have moved to “Mango” which uses a single tag covering France, Spain, Portugal and Italy. There is no annual fee and only a small monthly fee for any month when used. Presently there is an offer with no upfront costs. Details at …… https://www.mango-mobilitesbyaprr.com/en/offres

This looks very good, have you actually used it yet?

Heading for Italy later in the year, hope to avoid tolls but thought one of these might save a fine.

Will it work in Austria?, or is that pushing my luck;)
LES

I can't answer for Bip n Drive ( hadn't heard of them) but Bip n Go is great. Used it in Spain, Portugal and France with no problems. Only charged about a quid for the months it's used and then the toll rates. No charges the rest of the time. Really recommended it.

It's always a bit of a buzz driving up to the barrier and waiting for the beep and the barrier rising. Will it.....won't it??? It always has with my old van.
Now waiting to see if it will work as I've transferred it to the new van which has an a/c unit putting it just over 3 meters high. Time will tell. Off over the Channel next week.

I purchased Bip & Go around a year ago and excellent for travelling through France. As per other threads you only pay a small charge for the months it’s used so very cost effective.

Doing the same. Just got Emovis which is the UK site for Bip & Go. If you use Caravan & Motorhome Club you get £10 off👍 Tags arrived next day. I expect to use these this September with a two month trip to France & Spain. Make sure you register the tags when you get them.
😊

I was told you can’t get fined for speed cameras in france due to brexit so toll roads with no toll booths in Portugal n Spain might be the same just came back and no ticket yet

The idea of cross-border paying systms for different countries' toll systems has taken a knock recently because Poland has started charging for M/Ways and other major roads based on a GPS system which requires one to have an App loaded on a smartphone or a special device.

Try integrating that into a toll-booth system.

I wouldn't think of driving any distance in Italy without using the toll roads. The charges are much lower than in France and you may recover the cost in better mpg, less tyre wear and wheel damage from the potholes found away from the motorways plus of course the inconvenience and potential cost of having your fillings replaced when you get back home. :)

We used to have a Sanef tag which covered Italy but they discontinued it but if we ever plan to return I'll have a look at that Mango one suggested by Millcourt for which many thanks.

I love Italy by the, way just in case I may have given the wrong impression. :)

We live in Spain and have a house in France and use both Bip&go and Bip&Drive several times a year. They are both used/charge in the same way and both have really useful apps.

DBK we are travelling with friends who try to avoid toll roads, they are aware after reading a few articles in the magazines that tolls are more practical. Just need to find out about exclusion zones near the lakes, their van is older than ours. Also love italy but haven't been for a long time. Looking forward to it though.

Thanks for the advice

The toll roads are great, most of what was the AP7 in Spain is now free, and it is a great road from the Bilbao ferry to the coast

We were in Spain and Portugal earlier this year, used some toll roads, only one shock at the price.
Italy is going to be interesting.

Good luck if you do get away with it but be aware they will have you on record.

Spanish have taken out many toll roads and made them free, France has many more toll roads, but it is a choice of getting where you want to be in a day or two days. If you have the time great.
We tried using the local roads to cover a trip that would normally take 4 hours on a toll road, it took us 11 hours to do the same distance, by using local roads. You pays your money and you makes your choice.

We have enough time to meander, but think the toll roads will be less hairy/scary in mountainous regions. will be discussing with our travel companions before we set off, looks like the non toll road is alongside the toll on a lot of our Italy route. Fine with France Spain and Portugal, but it's such a long time since we were in the Italian lakes. Was on the back of a BMW then though.

Just thought - Bip & Drive or Bip & Go - can you purchase using UK bank details or credit card - Or do I have to purchase Emovis UK registered, which appears to be so expensive in set-up costs compared to others

The speeding bit of that is sadly not true. Les flics will fine you on the spot and if you haven’t got cash escort you to the nearest cash point. They sit in a lay-by about about half a mile from the radar

We managed with a British bank account. It looked like it had failed, I emailed snd somehow it was sorted.

Mate of mine asked me to enquire..

What difference does it make using Bib and go etc if they are over 3.5 t ?

All the best

Does anyone know for sure what category motorhomes fall into? Mine is under 3 metres height but gross vehicle weight is 3850 kgs. Some definitions say that motorhomes are classed by height, but other definitions mention that vehicles over 3500 gvw are class 3. So, class 2 or 3 is the question.
I have just applied for the Mango tag but there were no questions about class on the application. Perhaps they decide upon details held by DVLA?

Anyone have a problem with this in terms of UK banking? I have a Nationwide account, and while they do SEPA payments, they won't do a direct debit, which is what I need to set up for Mango. Anyone got a bank that does?
