We have gradually gone up in size from a VWcamper in the 80's, through an Eldiss small coach built in the 90's, then a Pilote A Class to our finally lovely Bailey Approach 740 our current van. We are now seriously thinking about going back to basics and down sizing to a panel van conversion that we can use as an everyday vehicle when needed. We currently tow a smart on a trailer when we go on a longer break. Anyone out there down sized? Pros and cons? As we are getting older we fancy something that it is easier to take out for the day as well as for longer breaks. Been thinking about the adria panel vans and also the murvis. Thoughts!

We downsized to a PVC after several coachbuilt ones including Burstner, Chausson and Autosleeper vans.
We manage quite well especially as we kept the fixed bed layout that we had in the larger vans. We spend up to 4 months at a time in it although we do tow a trailer to Spain in Winter which contains a freestanding awning that we use.
We also use it as a second vehicle when at home.

Con: storage
Pro: maneuvrability. Mind you, some vans seem to be as expensive and as long as an average coachbuilt, which to my mind rather removes their advantage.
