Hi All, (Rapido 9095DF.)

We are currently in Cochem having a fabulous holiday, it’s just turned to a biblical thunderstorm and chucked it down.

We’ve just found a substantial leak at the front of the van, passenger side, just above the bed mechanism where the headlining joins the wooden trim - it’s, erm, peeing through!

I’ll book it in for a proper fix at Rapido Wokingham when I get back, however in the meantime any suggestions (or products to avoid!) for a temporary bodge until I can bring it in? (I’m assuming I can get some sort of mastic from a DIY shop and put a thin smear over the existing seal as a get-me-home fix).

I’m guessing that it’s the seal between the front roof and main roof (OK, it’s a wild guess but happy to hear if there is a known weak spot that I should look at :)).

Thanks all

Jim

Someone on here had the same with a Hymer A Class and it turned out to be rain diverting channel that’s fitted to the roof to stop water cascading down the side. As I recall it was a simple re seal job. Screwed on with screws right through the roof.

We previously had a Rapido 709F with the large cross-ways seal on the roof and I noticed after a couple of years that it had 'shrunk' so re-filled it so I'd put my money on that.

Get some good gaffer tape and once dry stick it all along it, this will allow you to confirm it is the cause before you mess about re-sealing.

Thanks all, gaffer tape on the seal and so far so good job for when I get back.

Still having a ball though, hoofed off to Luxembourg (just coz!) today.

I view this as part of the bonding process (y)

Cheers

I’ll book it in for a proper fix at Rapido Wokingham when I get back,

What makes you think they'll return your calls or respond to you in any way?

They've ignored every attempt I've made to contact them since I bought my van 4 years ago.

That made me laugh

Hmmm, I had the antenna off before I left ......best check that as well!!!

Make sure you arrive with the fuel tank nearly empty and leave with it full. Much cheaper than other countries.

Belgium is 1.47, Lux is 1.12 -Wow

I live 1.5 miles away from them, I am the master of nagging on the doorstep :D

Had a mail from Wokingham yesterday- they suspect the antenna as the most likely cause as well

And in conclusion.....

@Mel had it right, it was the antenna in the end.

I popped down to Rapido Wokingham and talked the problem through with Phil, he guided me through the disassembly process for dropping the headlining (remove curtains, side trim pieces, roof light surround, curtain track, then drop the molded headlining) in order to expose the likely culprit areas (roof light, antenna, roof joint). I could have just dropped it off but Phil said it wasn’t particularly difficult, just time consuming- he was right, bit sweaty and sweary but not that hard.

Once exposed it was easy to see the leak, bit of goop missing from where the threaded portion goes through the roof plus me dislodging prior to my trip (educated guess) - everything now resealed and no more leak!

Thanks for everyone’s advice :*
