I would be interested in hearing some examples of things that you have benefited from in taking your test every 6-7 years. How about a short list.:)
Can't remember all of them but the ones that immediately come to mind.

  • I was taught to use engine breaking when I first started learning, then 10 years later or so when I finally got serious and took my driving lessons for my test was told not to do it. Now the instructors teach you when it is appropriate and when not.
  • I never used to use the chevron part of a filter lane. Last lesson I had taught me that I can use it and when it is appropriate to use it. Also what hazards to look out for when using it.
  • I was indicating a little too early when coming off a roundabout.
I also got a few more tips on reversing on side mirrors on the last one which has made things a bit easier as a solo driver.
