Hiya all. Just about to instal the panel using various bits I researched and bought in UK recently. I've studied a few videos on YouTube and think I understand the process but one question. On one video the installer seems to run the cable through a fuse after the controller enroute to leisure battery? Surely that's the point of the regulator? Is a fuse essential?

Yes you need to put in an inline fuse, I fitted a two way fuse board just under the regulator and put the input from panels to regulator through one and output from regulator to battery through the other. Also have regulator as close to battery as possible to reduce volt drop. Have a look at the very helpful and detailed installation instructions Techno100 put up on this forum.

Yes both ends, essential

Decent regulators have a fuse built in to make the installation neater
