I find it a little odd that people go camping/caravanning/motorhoming and want to do everything they do in their normal home. To me, this lark is a different way of life, and you do things differently, such as showering in the van. It simply does not work to hope the shower will stay hot while you have your normal 20 minute shower. To me, its part of the fun, doing things differently, trying alternative methods.
My parents camped with the 4 of us and everything packed in the boot of a tiny Morris Minor. My first time abroad was 50 years ago on my own on a scooter with a single pole tent which was heavy by today's standard and went on the front carrier. In the back panniers went all my clothes, food, sleeping bag and lilo (a good night's sleep still is essential) and other gear needed. My night time light was a 4.5 volt battery connected to a single torch bulb which clipped on the pole. With a maximum speed of just 50mph, I covered over 3000 miles in a month. Fabulous!
OK, as we get older we need more creature comforts, but by taking everything and anything are we in danger of losing one of the simple pleasures of motorhoming, that of a simpler no-frills lifestyle.
