Just spotted this I don't know if it's been posted, :( very sad, so if like us your a dog owner make sure your dog is on a lead and does not eat anything you don't feed it. Bob.

I know what I'd do with the poisoned sausages if I saw anyone doing that ... taste of their own 'medicine' comes to mind!

Use muzzle on dog it will stop it eating things if poison known to be around

My dog finds a sausage or similar it would be down it throat before i even saw it even on a lead

The worst thing is, it's probably someone staying there. :( Bob.

No problem Bob, better chance that more people see what is happening

We would be devastated if that had happened to us as had thought to go there when we left Silves only it is a bit out of town for us

Unfortunately, it doesn't just happen in Portugal. It has happened here, near my home ( poisoned meat) and it's just awful.!

This used to happen frequently in Cyprus, the main reason I left after just 20 months living there.
Unfortunately, there are some cruel and sick people out there.
Only counter action is to muzzle your dog when you're not by its side.

This is dreadful - so so sorry for the pet owners - can't imagine how they must be feeling, we called in there at the beginning of the month but they couldn't offer us a pitch as they were full, there but for the grace ....... Thanks for posting this - it reminds all of us to be vigilant

Well, we're currently staying at Mikki's place and were neighbours to the Dutch resident, who's dog was one of the poisoned. The police were here promptly and, we understand, a local has been arrested. Very sad, but as others have posted, there is nothing 'Portuguese' about this just a bitter cruel individual who presumably will be charged etc.
On another forum (yes, there are others) someone posted that they are cancelling their trip to Portugal because of this calling the Portuguese people "cruel". What a stupid overreaction, in my view. They are no more cruel than any other nation and we have found the people we have met, to be extremely helpful, courteous and welcoming.
Don't let one stupid event put you off coming to Portugal.

I'm pleased it looks like the s*d who did the poisoning has been caught and hopefully will be suitably punished but really feel for the dog owners as nothing can make up for their loss.

Being wary of poison being put out has made me wary of using the likes of France Passion sites etc as many are on farms where the need to control the rodent population is vital so poison is often used ... buy you don't expect in on a campsite.

Isn't English a strange language? Or maybe it is just me who finds that the title of this thread and the contents thereof are totally unrelated?

Hoping that I have not breached any forum rules.

It happened to my dog Harry.
Took him to the vets, vet said leave him with me, vet rang next day and said best to have him put down immediately he was so bad.
Never even got to see him again before he was euthanized

Thankfully all was ok during our brief stay at Mikki's Place in May. We have two Springer's but kept a close eye on them and on leads.
