Hi, Planning a road trip and was wandering when is the best time to go to Spain?

Open book nothing on for the next few months or so apart from MOT due in May which we can do earlier, am free to travel from March, will be driving from Calais heading South towards the Sun, is March too early, will Easter be too busy?
Or is it best to wait till it warms up after Easter and go in May & June?

Thanks

We've had to delay our winter travels till beginning of March (next week) and as with Charlie we have to be back mid-May for mot. Therefore we will trundle through France and into Spain with our fingers well and truly crossed for decent weather.

We are going mid-April this year. We did the same a couple of years ago and had excellent weather. But we met some folk after arriving in Santander who were on the way back and they had come across a lot of snow in central Spain a week earlier. It had all gone by the time we drove through that bit. The south coast was a perfect temperature for us. Not too hot for walking. :)

Easter is very busy in Spain and can be expensive on the sites, most of them stop taking ACSI, suggest you find somewhere and stay there over the Easter period or book somewhere. We managed to get a site at Villajoyosa last year and they gave us ACSI rate. We were on Kiko Park in Oliva and they wanted 54€ for the Easter week so I just emailed some sites and got the one in Villajoyosa.
We are heading out on the 15th March for 12 weeks.

May June or September October are usually great weather wise.

Warm, sunny but not too hot during the day but still warm in the evenings. Earlier or later can be a bit cool after 6pm.

Forget July and August - far too hot and humid for us.

We had planned September last year to do a Spain trip but had to change to March this year.
I’m worrying about weather.Sounds like we may need the winter pack.
We sail straight to Bilbao,in first week.Any suggestions/tips of peace and quiet, sites, beautiful scenery, great food, through Spain.( now I’ve written this,it sounds stupid as Spain is so big ?.).
Just bought e-bikes.
Thanks,

April/May away from the med coast is lovely. The flowers are incredible.

We had snow in March last year whilst driving south and it never really got warm even on the southern coast.
A couple of years before that it was tee shirts and shorts straight off the ferry.

Plan for the worst and hope for the best(y)

Weather here is same as a summers day in the UK normally at this time of year.
Easter is busy everywhere here with parades in most towns. here in Lorca it starts the week before Palm Sunday & lasts until Easter Sunday. Normally there is no accommodation of any type to be found around here.

We like Spain best in the autumn. We go around the 1st September and come back when we’ve had enough. We’ve also been the middle of April and that’s good as well.

very often we catch the ferry back at the end of april. from santander.
usually the night before we leave there is still a fall of snow on the peco,s if we look inland .
its amazing . mind have been up in the pecos in june and there was still snow in places .
you can be landing in santander in oct-nov and see snow inland , and again as you leave in april -may. yet its possible you only ever see it high up on the mountains .
be swimming in the med in the sun but look inland and see snow ,
always amazes me . did as a kid and still as an adult .
i know why it happens but its still amazing.
