As the title says really, she's a golden retriever (9 months) and we will need to be able to secure her hands free from time to time.

Many thanks

We use one of those screw things or tie lead through wheel👍

Screw in version for us however you sometimes need to use a bar to get it into the ground.

put a strap through the van wheel and clip the dog to that. No need to hammer or screw i a stake at all

thanks I hadn't thought of using the wheel, that's a good idea as I always struggle with either getting the stake in the ground firmly enough, or back out for that matter.

We use the hab door step.

Alternatively, we stake out a running line (secured at either end with tent pegs to keep the line tight to the ground) and use a carabiner to attach the dog’s lead. This has the benefit of allowing a good range of movement for the dog (along the length of the running line, which is usually aligned parallel with, and close to, the MH) with minimal chance of the dog getting tangled up in its lead.

Gellyneck solution is available at ALDI now.
It includes a steel wire 'rope' and clips.
The stake is easy to screw in, and out, of the ground.
The only drawback is the dog can get the wire wrapped around wheels etc as it wanders about.

That's where we got one of our two from.
