Best site for Dune de Pilat, Bordeaux please

Anyone have a recommendation for a dog friendly site near the Dune de Pilat near Bordeaux ?

we spent the first lockdown at a free aire near Cap Ferret and once released took the ferry across to Arcachon and walked to dune de pilat- quite a long walk but may be another option.

There is a municipal site about 3k on Bordeaux side of Arcachon that was quite nice 2 yrs ago, seemed dog friendly and not too expensive. Not too far from the Dunes. There seemed to be reasonable parking at Dunes, suitable at least for smaller Mohos.

Wasn’t the site by the dunes consumed by forest fire last year? I seem to remember a picture of it, having visited a few years ago.

We would not go back to the Yelloh village site. Lovely location but the service and staff attitude was very poor. On a different trip we stayed in one of the neighbouring sites (can’t remember which and it was so long ago any recommendation would be out of date) it was a bit run down but in a good way.

It was, all the sites were closed, not sure if they are open again yet.

If they are open, record high temperatures in Europe may make the area at high risk again. I haven't been there for many years but I remember them having sand crawler fire engines quite amazing machines.

We stayed at Camping Municipal Verdalle just West of Gujan Mestras last October and cycled to the Dunes on a nice loop through Arcachon. It had all mod cons for our 12 day wash and brush up and has decent sized pitches separated by hedges and good local walks. There were motorhomes in the car park at the Dunes too.

They aren’t getting the high temperatures at the moment, in fact rain forecast for the next few days

We stayed at the Camping Car Park Aire at Mimizan after visiting the Dunes (our trip highlight).

Not sure if this is two questions, but for Bordeaux, we stayed at the Yelloh Village - used bus and/or tram to get in & out of the centre (also used the ACSI Cand for reduced price)

Don't know of a site but we were in the area in May and we're shocked at the devastation left by fires last year. Miles and miles of burnt forest, including a couple of campsites. Quite odd to see charred stumps and a playground elephant left standing.
