A friend of mine wants to know the best satilite outfit buy travels throughout Europe

We have Oyster V on current van and Oyster 3 on previous both have been excellent in Spain, Portugal, France, Germany, Holland,Denmark.

We've had oyster and teleco. The satellites are slowly decreasing the signal so possibly a coat hanger. Systems are available but it'll be very expensive.

Stopped using sattelites a couple of years ago.Now use internet and film on tv.Less problems.BUSBY.

Avtex Snipe3
Once locked on switch off the 12V and it stays locked on { doesn't waste 12V energy }

I am a dinosaur but I tether my laptop to my phone or dongle and then log on to film on tv,,there is a monthly fee of I think is £14,,No contract so only pay when you are away.I then just connect lap top to my tv with an HDMI cable.If I had a smart tv I could eliminate the lap top. Hope that helps.BUSBY.

I'd also bin satellite and focus on streaming. You can get so many gigabytes on your phone that can that can be taken abroad and then tethered now as part of your contract that installing a satellite seems expensive. . If you've got Sky then it can now be watched abroad - you'll struggle to get a fraction of the channels on a dish that you can get on Sky so I'd go the simplistic route and stream.

Streaming is fine if you always travel where there is a mobile signal and don't mind not having tv when there isnt. We have an Oyster V, big dish but works well and as long as we park up where there is a view to the south we have TV. Horses for courses.

Yep, that's what I've got too, free to take abroad and you can stream anything and everything from Sky to Netflix and of course you can use the phone as a tether for bigger screens. I think I worked out that watching in HD was around 1.0 to 1.5 gb an hour, there's no way I get anywhere close to the 100gb limit.

Or you could go out and take in the culture and sights, mix with the locals and enjoy the differences, or maybe spend the time with your significant other and enjoy each others company without the Unholy Box blaring away. Or maybe read a book, expand your knowledge, learn a bit of the language for the countries you are travelling to. There is more to life than the TV, especially when touring.

And miss my rugby and football ,,not likely.BUSBY.

There you go - we’re not all tv addicts. We’re always keen to see new places and meet new people. Just nice to have the option sometimes. Been away for 3 weeks and not had our dish up once yet.

Hey, each to their own :). Paying out for a custom satellite system in order to receive every channel under the sun seems a bit excessive to me, but how others use their MH on their travels is up to them...heaven forbid someone misses an episode of Eastenders or Love Island!

Just take your Sky box with you it works just the same and you get all the channels you need.??

Problem is the coverage for picking up Sky is very limited once you get down to Spain/Portugal/Greece etc, that's the benefit of streaming if you're out of satellite range.

Never had a problem and have travelled along from Huelva in the West to Port Neuval in the East.and before the footprint changed we used to have a 40cm dome that worked really well now have 85cm dish with autoskew. There are obviously black spots but never come across one yet (touching wood as I say that!)??
